College admissions planning can start as early as middle school. The right course selection is imperative for college bound students. As an experienced college coach, Paul can assist in this process, guiding students through various options based on their school’s offerings and future college aspirations.
Here’s a basic timeline to help you understand the progression:
Middle School:
7th and 8th grade are great times to meet with a college advisor to go over possibilities in high school. Identify the students strengths and weaknesses and start discussions on future plans.
Freshman Year:
Select valuable courses guided by your college coach. Take the PSAT to start gauging your academic standing and understanding the standardized testing process.
Sophomore Year:
Maintain rigorous course selection as part of your ongoing college prep. This year, take the PSAT once again and continue your career exploration journey. A good college admissions counselor will aid in aligning your aspirations with your academic path.
Junior Year:
Further the rigorous course selection, and increase preparation for the SAT/ACT. Building your college list becomes an important task, where a college advisor can offer invaluable insights on choosing the right fit for you.
Senior Year:
Even at this stage, advanced course selection remains vital. Retake the SAT/ACT if necessary. Begin applying to colleges as early as August, with guidance from your college admissions counselor. Lastly, complete the financial aid application to receive financial aid packages and weigh your options.
